After travelling to Alwar and Baran (Rajasthan), Mandvi (Gujarat), Raigarh (Chhattisgarh), Kolaras and Pohra (MP), Keonjarh and Bhadrak (Orissa), South 24 Parganas (West Bengal), the journey came to a close after reaching its final destination, Kolkata (West Bengal). The last destination was marked with a press conference at the press club of Kolkata on 17th December, 2014.The conference was graced by the presence of Mr Rohit Adya, Director, External Affairs, Vodafone India, Mr Osama Manzar, Founder and Director, Digital Empowerment Foundation , Ms Jhuma Mondal, Sarpanch, South 24 Parganas and Ms Chudamani Nayak , Sarpanch , Keonjarh.

Marking the importance of Red Rickshaw revolution, Mr Adya said, “This journey is very important to us and everyone associated with us because this is going to empower many women across the country.” He addressed the press and talked about women for who this Digital Community Information Resource Centre has been set up in various locations. He mentioned that most of these women leader who have been given charge to run DCIRC Centres have struggled a lot and come far way for the benefit of their village.

Addressing the media, Ms Chudamani Nayak , talked about the fact that her village is located in dense jungles and the roads were very bad. She also talked about the fact that in the year 2012 when she took charge of Sarpanch post no workers were even willing to come to such an interior location for construction work. She looks at the opening of DCIRC as a boon for her village.

Talking about Red Rickshaw Revolution, Founder and Director DEF, Mr Manzar said, “Through this journey we look at making 200000 women digitally literate as well as creating more leadership in nearby areas. He said that these women will inspire more women and villagers to seek example from them and choose good women leaders in the area.

Jhuma Mondal , Sarpanch from South 24 Parganas said that she is very glad about the DCIRC which has been set up in South Pargana. She expressed, “I will try to ensure most women from the area go to the centre and benefit from them.”
By large it was emphasised that information and technology have a large influence over the society at present. It will act as a one stop centre for women to learn using a computer to work together on social issues like child marriage and gender equality. It will also enable them to access information about various beneficial government schemes, to connect with other regional developmental programmes through the internet. The centre will provide Digital Literacy Support to disseminate governance and agricultural information. It is enabled with internet connectivity, a printer, and 5 android tablets.
