Going Online As Leaders – Girls Program for Digital Leadership, DEF

About Samarth GOAL

Samarth GOAL is a mentorship program for the differently-abled. The project aspires to connect the mentees with influential Mentors. These Mentors will counsel and encourage the specially abled youth to learn digital and life skills, which will help them lead a life of honour, dignity, independence and motivate them to become contributors in their community.

The initiative has been designed to link 10 urban leaders, all experts in their respective fields, to five differently abled youth each who will be trained in digital literacy and skill building by the mentors. These mentees will become the change agents in their respective areas.

While the project is primarily targeted at capacity building for the differently abled youth, the learners as well as the mentees will work closely with the community gatekeepers and other stakeholders to initiate socio-behavioural, cultural and economic changes (within the larger community).

  • Personality Development – The differently abled face unique challenges while also possessing unique abilities and insights that others may not have. Through life skills training and one-to-one guidance, mentees will be trained through the Khel life skills for the 21st century framework, to help them overcome barriers and tap into their own potential.
  • Digital Enablement – Since Digital Enablement is paramount in the current digital era, we aim to increase livelihood opportunities by introducing digital tools & ICT learning aimed at digital empowerment as opposed to mere digital literacy.
  • Livelihood and Entrepreneurship – We aim to help the mentees prove to themselves and the world around them that with the right kind of support they are perfectly capable of being financially secure and can contribute to society and the economy.
  • Building Leadership – It is all about taking action. We aim to enable the mentees to be change makers in their societies & creators of the future; bringing to the fore issues that concern them.
  • Engaging the Larger Community – DEF along with the mentees will work to initiate socio-behavioural, cultural and economic changes within the community.
