During the past few weeks, we had witnessed the Covid-19 cases shooting sky high and deaths breaking records everyday. It not only crushed the burdened health system but also highlighted the sheer ignorance towards health infrastructure in rural areas.
To give an instant relief and prevent the spread, Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) has accelerated its ICT-enabled community-specific relief programme- “COVID-19 DIGITAL EMERGENCY RELIEF PROGRAMME 2.0” (CDERP 2.0).
Focus is on to train and equip DEF’s 10000+ foot soldiers as Covid SoochanPreneurs, to distribute mask, sanitizer, dry ration and essentials (soaps, sanitary pads) to 1 million households, pulse oximeters to Frontline Health Warriors, information dessimination on Covid-19 preventive behavior and breaking the vaccine hesitancy. Through CDERP 2.0 we expect to reach out to 1000 locations in 135 districts across 24 states in India.
During the Covid-19 DEF’s Doconline is helping people to connect with doctors virtually. People get examined and prescribed medicines by expert doctors, completely free of charge.
Internet on Wheels is another initiative of DEF where a van equipped with internet access travels from one village to another. And providing internet connectivity to people where they can apply for govt. entitlements and schemes and get benefitted. It also has a well-equipped library for children, with digital devices, to connect with their online classrooms.
