During the pandemic, like many life-activities, the education system completely shifted to online platform. Months have passed, but this adoption isn’t equally effective to all. Students and teachers have their own struggles while accessing these online platforms. Due to financial constraints, students are not able to access the internet, and are devoid of electronic gadgets and laptop, phone or computer or even radio and TV, at many places.
To bridge the digital divide, DEF through its initiative- Digital Daan is providing digital devices to the underprivileged children. Devices are crowd sourced from different locations and send further to mostly rural areas. So far, 500 Education Public Access Points across 10,000 villages in 80 districts have been established.
Internet on Wheels is another initiative where in a van equipped with internet access travels from one village to another. Other than the internet access it also has digital devices, to enable children to connect to their online classes.
