Riya Kumari was navigating life’s challenges with unwavering resilience. She faced life’s difficulties with strong determination. Riya came from a simple family, and her father worked hard as a laborer to support their future. Despite their small house and money troubles, Riya was focused on creating her own path in life.
As Riya embarked on her journey towards higher education, she recognised the need for additional income to support her family and pursue her dreams. She completed a Diploma in Computer Applications (DCA) and found a job at a local computer centre, where she dedicated herself to guiding students about the digital world.
However, beneath her determined exterior, Riya carried a heavy burden. The adversities she had faced in life had taken a toll on her emotional well-being. On some occasions, she found herself sinking into the depths of depression. It was during this critical juncture that Riya’s life took a transformative turn.
Riya enrolled in a Mental Health and Gender training program, attending sessions that would change her life forever. These sessions opened her eyes to the intricate connections between emotional, psychological, and social well-being. She learned that mental health is more than just the absence of mental disorders; it encompasses the ability to cope with life’s stresses, realise one’s potential, and function effectively in society.
Before the mental health training, Riya’s life was marked by instability and a lack of control over her emotions. Dark thoughts would creep into her mind during moments of despair, posing a risk to her own well-being. She struggled to find effective strategies to navigate life’s ups and downs.
However, after completing the mental health training, Riya underwent a remarkable transformation. Armed with newfound knowledge, she felt empowered to confront life’s challenges head-on. She learned to confide in others and seek guidance when needed, embracing a positive outlook on life. Riya discovered that with faith, calmness, and resilience, solutions could be found even in the most trying of circumstances.
