The much awaited W2E2 programme has now kicked off in Tura with ten women entrepreneurs. It was a first of its kind programme in Tura, West Garo Hills District of Meghalaya the north eastern part of India. After publishing the advertisement in local newspapers and website of Tura Internet Service Centre a clear picture of enthusiasm was visible. The programme aims at increasing capacity and skillsets among women entrepreneurs to increase productivity in their field.
Ten women entrepreneurs were selected from different backgrounds through a three tier process. Entrepreneurs are from self-help group, weaving community and cluster base activity. Bio data was collected by advertisement and interview was organized with a follow up of household and community visit.
Initially the entrepreneurs were trained on basic and advanced ICT tools. The selected women will go through one month training and will be provided with a laptop to improve their entrepreneurial skills which can later lead to increase in their income. Entrepreneurs will be connected with high bandwidth internet through W4C progamme.
TISC and DEF are happy to see enthusiasm among women to use ICT tools and is looking forward to a good outcome from the programme. It is a first kind of programme in Tura and Meghalaya.
