Community Information Resource Centre (CIRC), a flagship programme of the DEF envisions creation of information empowered, equitable communities by providing digital access to information, knowledge and online services in rural areas.


Chanderiyaan, an e-commerce portal, is serving to meet the demand and supply chain for the unique Chanderi weaving products. This platform of the weavers, for the weavers and by the weavers, is managed by a network of weavers self-help groups through a common platform.


Nestled in the Vindhyachal range and situated in the Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh, the town of Chanderi. This website is dedicated to Chanderi's archaeological remains that bear testimony to its long and eventful past.

Chanderi Heritage

This website dedicated to Chanderi, is part of e-Heritage Peoject. The e-Heritage Project seeks to collaborate with communities to bring heritage into the digital space by digitally documenting culture and tradition of Indian heritage cites by involving the community in the process.

Digital Knowledge Centre

Digital Knowledge Centre is a repository of best practices in digital content for development. While developments are taking place, the critical process of sharing and exchanging is left out. DKC aims to fill that gap with a web-portal with rich developmental content.

Green Prakriya

Greenprakriya aims to create a rich knowledge base of technology solutions for addressing environment issues. The project acts as a policy advocate and develop a network of stakeholders working on Green technology.

Internet Rights

The “Internet Rights” is an initiative through which DEF is consistently making an effort to make Internet as a medium to reach the masses, to create even opportunities and linkages between haves and have-nots so that the grassroots knowledge reaches the economic prosperity and vice versa through information communication technology and digital media.

Kanpur Public Library is pioneered project in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, which enlighten a ray of hope in the dark of digital illiteracy. This initiative delivers internet and digital resources in Kanpur city for eradicating the poverty of digital resources and their unreached towards the citizen.

Wireless Women for Entrepreneurship & Empowerment

The aim of the Wireless Women for Entrepreneurship & Empowerment (W2E2) program is to create women’s micro-level social enterprises based on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and develop women entrepreneurs supported by wireless Internet in 4 backward districts of India and contribute to an enabling Internet environment and Internet for gender inclusion and women empowerment.

Wireless for Communities

Wireless for Communities” (W4C) is an initiative of ISOC and Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) that utilizes unlicensed spectrum and low-cost Wi-Fi based equipment to connect and empower rural and underserved communities. The W4C programme has brought e-governance initiatives like community service centres (CSC), automation of birth and deathcertifications, and single window clearance systems to people.

Unnao District Library

Unnao District Library enables ICT services in the town's district public library. The project aims to provide free access of information services to the local and rural people and unify the online management of digital catalogue system of books, articles, journals and resources available in the library.
