DEF in collaboration with Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3) organised a two-day residential digital literacy training for cluster coordinators to provide hands-on training of digital tools and techniques. The training was organised in Gumla, Jharkhand on November 22 and 23, 2017, with 25 cluster coordinators from various villages of Jharkhand, who actively participated in the training programme to understand basics of computer and its functions. The workshop explored opportunities for the coordinators, with varying but low levels of understanding of computer, to efficiently make use of digital tools into tribal communities of Jharkhand.
The training helped them realise how they can effectively use digital as a part of their programme to build awareness of their mission, grow their influence and empower adolescent girls in the tribal communities.
The coordinators shared experiences of using computer, mobile previously and this help the trainers to understand the background and level of knowledge. During the workshop the participants identified prospects and challenges to improve their understanding of digital for building a better strategy. The grasping power and retaining knowledge of the girls was quite good and this training covering some elements of the curriculum added more value to build their capacities.
The elements covered during the two-day residential workshop were: Introduction to Computers, parts of a computer, using a computer, notepad & typing, paint, Internet and its applications, make your own email & using email, basic & applications of MS Word, basics & working with MS Excel, online safety and security, Whatsapp, YouTube.
