Twenty students from Baank-e-Loom centre in Saidanpur, Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, attended the FLO Skill Development Initiative 2018-19 in Lucknow where they were awarded certificates for their newly acquired skills. Apart from this, Baank-e-Loom in association with Shine India Society & GRACE Care Inc organised a free medical camp at the centre, which also participated in the Farmers’ Market at Habibullah Estate in Lucknow. Here, team Baank-e-Loom showcased summer-friendly handwoven cotton stoles, dupattas and sarees. Baank-e-Loom is a centre supported by Ericsson under their CSR initiative to digitally empower the artisans of Barabanki.
At the certification ceremony in Lucknow, former cricketer and State Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Chetan ChauhanDistributed certificates to 10 girl students for successfully completing food processing training, which DEF organised last year at Baank-e-Loom centre. Another 10 students were awarded their certificates for their exemplary performance in the digital literacy classes at the centre. Baank-e-loom staff, too, received certificates for contributing to the local community by organising various activities in the village.
Meanwhile, Dr. Helene Mansara, Dr. Nelly Odiette & Dr. Pierre Filteau treated the villagers with great care. The community doesn’t always have access to proper healthcare. So, the doctors advised them to be careful and take proper medications. Community members including weavers, senior citizens, homemakers and children queued up to receive health care tips from the doctors.
