The world is changing at a rapid pace towards the development of humanity, however, in the fast-paced world there is a displaced population, which is being neglected by our society such as, sex and child trafficking victims, refugees, etc. They are finding it difficult to cope up with the rapid development of the digital world due to the lack of information and education. In today’s world, digital literacy is a basic right of every individual, which leads to access to various services, entitlements, and information. To connect such population so that they get to access information, digital education and digital services, DEF and Microsoft has potentially partnered to support the displaced population in India by setting up digital and information centers at different locations, which will enable them to be digitally equipped for the purpose of Livelihood, Education, and Community Development. The project also aims at connecting the unconnected, so that they can access the Internet and the opportunities it offers to pull people and communities out of social, cultural and financial exclusion and marginalization. This will be achieved by providing access to contextual digital tools, digital literacy, and digital services.
To achieve this, 10 centers are being established at different locations, which will provide access to digital tools like desktop, laptop, printer, scanner, internet; digital and financial services such as printing, e-filing etc. contextual digital literacy for children, youth, adults, and senior citizens; information services; government schemes and entitlements; and market linkages; among others, so that they can become self-reliant.
