Participants of the Samarth SoocnhaPreneur program have always succeeded in finding the most suitable work that takes into account the differences in physical abilities. Such efforts are slowly restoring the faith in the society being able to be acceptable and welcoming to every kind of individual without biases.
For someone who is differently abled, finding a suitable work that does not remind them of their disabilities each moment and pays well for their hard work is often challenging. Especially when it comes to rural India, due to lack of facilities, they find it much harder to live a dignified life. Digital Empowerment Foundation’s Samarth SoochnaPreneur program ensures that such people are given a fair opportunity to become entrepreneurs on their own merits of hard work.
Ganesh Pawar from Nandurbar, Maharashtra has been a member of the program. Despite his disabilities, he is the sole earning member of his family of 7 belonging to a very poor background. Earlier, he used to work as a Self Help Group’s consultant, maintaining the data of Shahada tehsil. He found the work challenging because he had to travel to the villages to collect the data. As he decided to work in his own village to avoid further inconvenience, he came across DEF on social media. He visited the nearby centre to know about the projects of DEF. Through this, he got to know about the SoochnaPreneur program for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) where digital assets are provided to help in setting up SoochnaPreneur centres.
He grabbed the opportunity, collected the assets and made the best use of them by opening a SoochnaPreneur centre. At his centre, he provides digital and governance services and earns a good income. He expresses that because of this opportunity, he was not only able to overcome his own hardships, but could also help his community.
