‘Internet Literacy for Women’ is a thought that is supported by Google India and Tata Trust. The programme, to be implemented in five districts of Madhya Pradesh and six districts of Bihar, is an initiative under the ‘Helping Women Go Online’ project which aims to ensure inclusion of women by connecting them to the Internet. As implementation partner, DEF is looking forward to empowering rural women through digital literacy training and workshops. This vision will be achieved by engaging more than 3,000 rural women (or Internet Saathis) to train more than 18 lakh rural women (Internet Literates).
Planned inclusion of rural women is a digital and dynamic step with its effects being multidimensional and real. Providing access to digital tools and knowledge of the Internet will not only help rural communities in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar to adapt to the world of information and technology but will also benefit them to avail government services and schemes in future.
