Across India a common usage of the phrase, “Today’s children are tomorrow’s future”, is heard in many households. But the question of understanding how to prepare these young adults today hasn’t always been thought through in these households. As the world keeps changing at a much faster rate and gets more complex, those trying to keep up are often bewildered and confused about the choices that lay ahead. In such a scenario platforms and opportunities that help in bringing clarity and training that help in skill development in order to be better equipped proves to be absolutely necessary.
Digital Empowerment Foundation has been launching such initiatives. 20 years before “Digital India” became so popularly known, DEF has been laying the necessary foundation over two decades to empower citizens from every background and addressing all the major social pillars of a community to achieve a smooth transition into the digital era.
As a result, this edition brings out the case stories of such empowered individuals who are looking forward to bring a change in their own lives and in society, touching upon the economically weaker sections living in the urban areas, young adults from rural areas with no exposure to digital devices, young girls tackling subtle differences in the gender roles, households with patriarchal strings attached, etc.
