The activities conducted by an RCCE volunteer includes mitigating rumours by explaining to people about the disease, ensuring that the public follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour like using face coverings, maintaining social distancing and regularly washing hands and tackling the hesitancy towards vaccination. The volunteers also discuss with the community about some of the sensitive topics around the pandemic like immunization, diet to be followed, using public toilets, going back to school when the situation is suitable and avoiding early marriages. They convey the message through meetings and often using depictions through wall paintings. Through various communication channels and in person meetings, the program entails reaching out to general public comprising of community members, panchayat, representative, line department officials, elderly people, youth & SHG ( Self Help Group) women, vulnerable and marginalized population which include pregnant and breastfeeding women, children between the age group of 0 to 18 and people with co-morbidities like diabetes, hypertension, etc..
So far, the program has been able to reach 34,69,500 across 90 districts and engage through messaging on prevention and access to services.
