Digital didi Asma Bibi trains herself through Skillbot and empowers her community with safer menstrual practices.
Asma Bibi from Nabakantapur, Murshidabad has been working with the Digital Empowerment Foundation as a Digital Didi for two years. During the capacity-building training, Asma initially struggled to understand the topic and was unsure. It was challenging for her to come to terms with the realization that, despite many years of experiencing her periods, she was still unaware of factual information and had been in denial about the need for better practices to ensure an improved menstrual experience.
Asma has become a customer of the products she sells and is now a regular user of SmartPads. She found the course on LMS Chatbot highly useful, making things more convenient for her, and expressing her satisfaction with this inclusion.
Having already sold some SmartPads, Asma reflects on her experience in the field as insightful. She came to realize that many women and girls, like herself, were unaware of the menstrual process and possessed only superficial knowledge about it.
In her work on the projects, Asma believes that her livelihood will increase, provided she persists in her efforts. The positive outcomes of her work have played a pivotal role in her decision to continue as a Digital Didi in the next phase of the program. Asma’s story underscores the power of education and empowerment, not only in her own life but also in the lives of other women in her community.
