New year 2019 began with a new Smartpur centre establishment in Rajasthan. Alwar’s centre in Rajasthan is open for the nearby school students to access computer classes for building digital literacy. Later in the month, Republic Day was celebrated with great pomp and show at Bharatpur Hub centre, with village Ladamka’s children, adolescents and youth participating with full vigour. Further, Bharatpur centre’s first health camp was organised on January 29. The health camp was first not only for the centre but also for the village, with a high show of 152 villagers turning up for a general check-up.
The doctor was arranged by the health entrepreneur from Jaipur city’s hospital who had distributed free medicines and did referrals for further full treatment.
Ghazipur’s five centres out of ten have picked up pace with the Health pillar strengthening, as the need for health facilities within the village is high, since the villages are at a far off distance from Ghazipur city. There were four general health camps which were conducted in the month – health checkups were held around – eye, ENT and full body checkup.
Saraiya village’s school students were greeted with a pleasant surprise, on the occasion of Youth Day. On January 12th 2019 the field staff and entrepreneurs of village Saraiya, Ghazipur, U.P. kept their promise made to the students of middle school of Saraiya of organizing a kabbadi match. The sports event was held especially on the demand of girls and boys who study in the school. During the baseline study (conducted during December) the students shared that the competitions were all held at Ghazipur city only and never at their school level, they were sure that they were very good with the game but there were no opportunities around. Smartpur provided the due platform which students were looking for and hence it was a full participation.
On January 22nd 2019, at Nuh, Haryana, a major pension camp was held under the Finance pillar. The pensions were disbursed at the Hub centre by the Finance entrepreneur to the elderly from the micro ATM equipment.
At Telangana Chotuppal recce of the area and community mobilization are under process, but as the girl hired for the position of centre coordinator, Pothula Rachel, is very active and as per the requirement from the community, on January 23rd 2019, a camp was held to measure the height-weight of children of the village where the Hub centre would be coming up and would be built.
