From Tirunelveli in the south to Ladakh and Kashmir in the north, DEF has been designing and implementing digital innovations that are providing communities with access to information, entitlements, rights, education, healthcare and finance. With the leaps and strides of digital technologies over the last 20 years, DEF has ensured that it not only stays updated but also uses the ever-changing technologies in the context of the different communities it works with.
The beauty of these innovations lies in its flexibility which allows communities to mould them as per their requirements. Arif from Ladakh might need to provide the taxi drivers of his village with knowledge about how to take their micro businesses online while Nirmala from Jharkhand might need to enable the women in her village to gain access to widow or old age pensions. Anju from Tamilnadu might be helping people in her village apply for passports while Oliva in West Bengal might be enabling her community to gain access to their finances by getting their PAN cards made.
Digital technologies serve multiple purposes and DEF’s interventions ensure that digital is used by the communities we work with, instead of the community being used by digital.
