DEF has started a training programme with 50 rural weavers and artisans on digital skills and employment in four states to enable them to explore and connect with the digital world and to augment their earnings by leveraging digital connectivity. Five groups have done their after-orientation programme and completed all the five modules in June 2022. The aim of this digital skilling is to build the capacity of the entrepreneurs to access information and stay connected with the outside world. This connectivity will not only enable them to make informed decisions about their livelihood but also help to advertise their products and increase their clientele. Amidst the global pandemic, to maintain the pace of the training for it to be completed in the stipulated time period, the trainings were conducted both in offline mode and online self-learning through a skill bot.
At a time where migration and reverse migration were amongst the major issues coming out of the pandemic, digital skill training is a successful way to increase the livelihood options for rural entrepreneurs. The innovative blended approach of Telegram based skill bot programme has drawn overwhelming response from the entrepreneurs.
