Digital Empowerment Foundation initiated Digital Eco Systems for Senior Citizens to provide digital literacy classes and Community Information and Resource Centre (CIRC) services with the field level support. Similarly, digital literacy classes and CIRC with the support of HelpAge India was initiated.The centre aims to provide digital literacy, information services, health related training and information on various digital services in an effort to help people, especially elders, fight information and digital poverty. Further Representatives of Age International Mr, Tony Hopkins and HelpAge India visited the CIRC centers under digital component of Project Astitva at Virdhunagar and Nagapattinam.
They met the community members and beneficiaries of information services and digital services provided by CIRC and also understood the process of tele-medicines where community members were getting medical consultancy and prescription form with respect to the concerned doctors of Apollo hospital Delhi via videos teleconferencing against the cost of only rupee 1.
This collaboration of CSC and Apollo Hospitals is aimed at providing primary, preventive and promotive healthcare through tele consultation to rural patients from telemedicine speciality centres situated within Apollo hospitals across various locations in the country and virtual clinics for patients using telemedicine technology. This is the first time in the country that healthcare services are being delivered using information and communication technology at a large scale.
