Tally workshops were conducted under the Digital literacy for Women and Girls Program, an initiative by United Way Delhi and Digital Empowerment Foundation. The session took place at both the CIRCs at Ghazipur and Moti Bagh and was facilitated by Mr. Arun Choudhary and Ms. Swati Rai, an expert on Advance Excel and Tally. The workshop was mainly organized for students from the commerce background. The specific objectives of the workshop were to assist the participants to develop an understanding of Tally by providing appropriate knowledge and explain to them how it can unlock various career opportunities.
Around 20-25 participants of 15-23 years of age took part in this workshop. THe workshop began with the facilitator warming up to the participants with an interaction in which everyone shared about the prior knowledge they had about Tally and Advance Excel. The Session continued with the students being given hands-on training in the creation of company, ledgers, and groups, and posting Voucher entries in Tally.
A detailed discussion was held on the accounting information around the know-hows of groups and ledgers. Participants were taught about stock groups, stock items, and the ways in which units of measures are created. They were made to practice the various entries for a particular company, the maintenance of groups ledgers, and inventory. Participants have also imparted knowledge of the concepts related to taxation. The students enthusiastically participated in the workshop and found this session helpful.
