DEF believes in more practical modes of expanding the reach and improving on the deliverables. Exposure events like that of PM Wani at Digital Sarthak centres enable such means of learning among the beneficiaries.
Digital Empowerment Foundation values reflecting on learnings which is always a great window for improvisation and better understanding. As part of the DigitalSarthak program, closing events were organised in each district to listen to the experiences shared by the Women entrepreneurs and Digital Sarthaks. This was also an opportunity for other Digital Sarthaks to understand the operational end of PM Wani.
The Public Wi-fi networks have been established under the framework of Prime Minister’s Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM WANI) at selected rural panchayat levels. They are working towards developing a robust digital communication infrastructure in the remote parts. These centres are based at local Digital Sarthak centres looked after by DEF where a greater need for internet connectivity has been assessed.
During the event, the district coordinators along with Digital Sarthaks and Women Entrerepreneurs provided a brief introduction about the program deliverables, target beneficiaries and process of setting up PM Wani centres in a district. BSNL office personnel, Sarpanch, SRLM and NRLM district managers, block manager, CDBO, BDO, CSC office manager and PDOA were special invitees for the event.
It is a great exposure for many Digital Sarthaks and Women Entrepreneurs to get a better picture of how these centres where PM Wani’s operational aspect is also largely held by women are working. It is hoped that such an exposure will instil a better practical understanding among these women.
