August was the start of India’s festive season. DEF’s Community Information Resource Centres (CIRCs) work towards building a more informed society through digital interventions across 345 locations in the country. The centre coordinators and entrepreneurs are well knit with the communities and maintain a close relationship with students, teachers, mothers, farmers, labourers and senior citizens. The festive month of August gave the centres several opportunities to interact with the community and stir discussions on relevant issues. Friendship Day was celebrated to bring together students and rejoice togetherness and oneness by making greeting cards for one another.
On National Handloom Day, the centres saluted artisans and craftsmen who have kept the art of weaving alive in the country. On Janmashtami, the centre created a space for community members to narrate stories of Krishna and creatively engage in art and craft. CIRCs celebrated Independence Day by emphasising on the importance of unity and brotherhood.
On each of these occasions, the centers organised meetings, group discussions, movie screening, workshops and various activities to bring together community members, celebrate the occasions with them and engage in fruitful dialogues.
