Rajesh Singh, son of Shiv Singh Chauhan, is a permanent resident of Kangsali village in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. His parents are involved in agriculture, and his two sisters are in school. After completing XII standard, Rajesh wasnted to pursue hotel management. However, due to their weak financial condition, the family couldn’t afford Rs. 50,000 for his higher education, which institutes were asking. For them, it was even difficult to make both ends meet. One day, Soochna Seva had organised a meeting for village youth where they spoke about various career opportunities for the young.
They also spoke about hotel management; and Shiv Singh requested the Soochna Sevaks to guide Rajesh further in pursuing his dream career. With the career guidance of Soochna Sevam Rajesh was selected on merit bases for a hotel management course. And his parents are extremely happy.
Manjeet is another young boy who has found his calling in hotel management.
After Sohan Singh’s son Manjeet finished schooling, he would loiter around the village all day long. Sohan wanted his son to pursue hotel management but they weren’t financially strong enough to let him pursue the career. At a time when they barely had food to eat, higher education seemed like a distant dream.
However, their dream was fulfilled when Soochna Seva organised a meet for the youth in Kangsali village in Pratap Nagar block of Tehri Garhwal district (Uttarakhand). At this meet, not only was Manjeet informed about hotel management as a course and colleges that offer this subject, but he was also informed about some government scholarship schemes that could help lessen the financial burden on his father for his education.
Today, Manjeet is a student of hotel management.
