Gulabi Devi of Chandauli district in Uttar Pradesh lives in Futiya village. She says her village, lies far from the city area, posing various challenges for its residents. Issues such as internet connectivity, clean water, banking facilities, and the lack of education among women are prevalent. People often have to travel to distant markets for tasks like photocopying or filling forms, and accessing financial services requires them to journey outside the village. Moreover, our village lacks quality education facilities, compelling boys and girls to commute to the city for schooling. Illiteracy among women also hinders their ability to operate smartphones, leading to time constraints in managing household chores. Through the DEF center, we gained knowledge about the internet, smartphones, social media, and Google, reducing the need for distant travels for tasks like photocopying. This initiative not only provided a ray of hope but also acted as a support system for solving our problems, offering opportunities for income generation. Our community engages in various activities, forming a cohesive group aimed at empowering women through education and smartphone literacy. We conduct meetings and provide training sessions to raise awareness about social media and smartphone usage, fostering skilled and capable women for the betterment of their families and the village.
