Journey of Kanta and Community Leadership

Meet Kanta, an ambitious woman from Alwar, Rajasthan, who had faced life-changing challenges with determination. Her childhood was not as simple as others. She experienced a life-threatening accident that made her physically disabled. The painful memories may blur as time passes, but the marks remain as they are. Kanta firmly made an incredible journey of empowerment and self-discovery.  

Although she faced lots of challenges, she continued her education and achieved a Master’s degree. Her philomath spirit led her to run the “Samarth Soochnapreneur Center ” in Alwar, Rajasthan.  

Kanta was aware of digital tools and their importance. According to her, digital access is a powerful tool that helps anyone to learn anything easily, and affordably from their home. As a curious person, she tries to learn ICT tools, and software and understand the power of digitalization that can transform everyday life. 

She learned to use digital tools, computer skills, and smartphone usage and tried hard to break the barriers that held her from new learnings and opportunities. As a result, she could visit different government websites, fill out online application forms, and access different government schemes for persons with disabilities, women, and other community members. 

Kanta has a determined commitment to learning, which is reflected in her personality development. She uses her knowledge to help and empower her community members. Formerly she visits the government offices to avail and understand different government schemes.  

Now she has transformed her Samarth Soochnaprenur center into a knowledge hub, where she gives information about different government schemes. She helps to avail of the schemes and fill out online application forms. Her community engagement is very strong because she empowered other persons with disabilities by telling them new possibilities of education, income generation, and social connection and emerged as a community leader. 

Kanta also works as an Anganwadi Sevika in her local Anganwadi, where she works with more than 40 children. She actively participates in different digital empowerment projects. This helps her to learn, understand, and grow as a community leader. 

Kanta’s journey is the transformation story of a physically disabled person into a digital social community leader which is truly inspiring. Her journey indicates the power of learning, flexibility, adaptability, and impact of digitalization. Kanta brought social, economic, and personal empowerment to her community, especially persons with disabilities, and became a source of inspiration to her community members.
