The year 2017 is an opportunity for the Integrated Approach to Technology in Education (ITE) team of DEF. Official permission has been granted to DEF to scale up ITE in 20 more government schools in Nagaon district of Assam. However, such opportunity also brings challenges which need to be dealt with sensitivity and tactically. Therefore, this February the awareness and mobilisation regarding ITE among various stakeholders (government teachers, district RMSA officials and local communities) was carried out. Similar drives were also carried out at six ITE Kendras in Nagaon and West Garo Hills districts.
February has been a busy month for the ITE project. As many as 260 children were enrolled at ITE Kendras from 26 government schools across 25 villages; a baseline survey to assess students’ analytical, research and ICT skills was carried out with a target of 850 students from Classes VII to IX from 19 schools.
Meanwhile, two government school teachers were anonymously selected at a DEF-ITE cluster meeting for a certificate course in ICT in Education — a course provided by TISS, Mumbai, in collaboration with RMSA, Assam.
