I am Meena Devi, and I come from Kurko village in Bokaro District, Jharkhand. In our village, one of the issues we face is the lack of access to quality healthcare. There are very few competent doctors available, and government healthcare facilities are limited, leaving many villagers without proper medical attention when needed. Education is another significant challenge, especially for those seeking higher learning opportunities. Resources are scarce, making it difficult for our youth to pursue further studies. Moreover, the absence of online connectivity exacerbates these problems, as it hampers our ability to access essential services and information. Faced with these challenges, I decided to make a group of 15 women from our village and encouraged them to start saving money collectively. Through our collective efforts, we have managed to amass a significant sum of money, which serves as a financial safety net for our fellow villagers. Previously, many relied on large money lenders for loans, but now, thanks to our initiative, we support each other by lending within our group. This has not only reduced our dependence on external sources but has also strengthened our bonds as a community. Through collaboration and collective action, we are driving positive change and creating a sense of self-reliance and empowerment within our community.
