The learning centres of DEF ensure that the doors are kept wide open to everyone irrespective of gender, age, education or social backgrounds.
In the present framework of our society, self-confidence is often tucked under the blanket of knowledge accumulation or academic achievements. This makes it even harder to reach out to those who have dropped out of the schooling system and convince them to take up the mantle of learning. But the safe, interactive and user-friendly learning centres and resources set up by DEF have helped many to rekindle their spark to learn in the rural areas.
Neeraj is 19 year old, a resident of Gazipur Village. Neeraj left her schooling after 9th class and is currently helping her mother with domestic work. Her younger sister has been coming to our centre for the last two months. So Neeraj’s sister managed to take her to the computer classes. When she came to the centre, she lacked confidence and was hesitant. But now, along with learning computer skills she is developing her confidence. She wants to learn more skills so that she can be better at any work she takes up and improve the quality of her life.
So far, she has a basic understanding of computers and is comfortable in handling the hardware systems. She recently started to learn Ms Word. Neeraj is a regular student of our centre. She participates in all the activities which are held at our centre.
