In our community, we face numerous challenges on a daily basis. Working in the tea gardens exposes us to the dangers of wild animals like leopards and snakes, making our work environment unsafe. Additionally, the absence of an English school in the tea garden deprives our children of quality education. Another pressing issue is the scarcity of drinking water, which poses a significant hardship for us all. One major concern is the lack of land patta, preventing individuals from building their own shelters. This forces educated youth to engage in manual labor in the gardens to support their families. Accessing government scheme benefits is also a challenge, requiring us to travel long distances of 7 kilometers or more. One of the most significant problems we faced was with banking. Despite receiving our wages through bank transfers, there was no banking facility available in the garden. To address this, I took the initiative and facilitated the establishment of a State Bank of India branch in our garden on 24/02/2024. With the support of the Soochnaprenuer center, I have undertaken various initiatives for the betterment of our community, including facilitating the issuance of essential documents like PAN cards, ration cards, caste certificates, and Aadhaar enrollments. We have also assisted in updating Aadhaar details, linking mobile numbers to Aadhaar, and making necessary changes to Aadhaar addresses. Additionally, we have helped in forming new self-help groups, providing document lamination services, and assisting with PF loan applications. We also offer services such as passport photo and Xerox facilities, as well as assisting with birth and death certificates.
