Join us in this edition of our newsletter to explore the multifaceted internet world and its influence on day to day living of those connected, unconnected or waiting to be connected.
We keep hearing about the age of the internet and digital transformation. Digital Empowerment Foundation has been working on connecting the unconnected for almost 20 years now. But when we look into how the world of the internet has evolved over the years, the answer does not lie in just the world being better connected. It lies in the complex web of socio-economic identities, access, education, internet dark zones, exclusion, mis-information and data rights, all connected and acting on each other in an intricate way.
Hence, 20 years down the line, the problem of internet exclusion has taken many different forms to which DEF has consistently worked to find long-term and sustainable solutions. The motto of the organization has always been outcome oriented interventions that includes every section of the society that is normally excluded under various programs. From setting up community networks in internet dark zones to empowering youth to be aware about data rights, DEF is striving to cover the whole gamut of the internet world. This edition of the newsletter elaborates on these efforts and paints a better picture of how the internet world looks like.
