My name is Pronami Manki, and I live in Jorhat at the Bokahola Tea Estate. There are many challenges our community faces, especially the tea garden workers. They have hard lives with low wages, long hours, and poor living conditions. Even though there are government benefits available, they struggle to access them. One big problem is the distance to banks and digital services, which are 4-6 kilometers away. This means they often have to take time off work, making their situation even harder. With the help of the Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF), we’ve set up a center to provide digital support. Now, people can learn about government schemes and scholarships at our center. Before, they had to miss work to do these things, but now they can do them without any trouble. DEF also helps us run awareness programs to improve our community’s well-being.
