“Rupali Konwar, a woman of unwavering determination and resilience, breaks barriers, empowers rural women entrepreneurs, and plays a pivotal role in Assam’s green revolution.”
Rupali Konwar, a SoochnaPreneur Business Mitra, is a shining example of resilience and dedication in the face of adversity. Despite facing physical challenges due to a disability, she has been a ray of hope and progress in her community since becoming a SoochnaPreneur in 2022.
Rupali’s commitment to serving her community knows no bounds. Her primary focus has been on providing digital and digital plus services to the community at large, with a special emphasis on rural women entrepreneurs in her cluster. Her mission is to empower these women, helping them grow their businesses and meet the necessary compliances, thus fostering economic growth in her region.
In September 2023, Assam government launched the Assam Amrit Brikshya Andolan, a momentous tree-planting initiative aimed at symbolising the state’s dedication to environmental protection and sustainable development. This campaign sought to plant one billion seedlings across Assam, with active participation from various groups, including Self-Help Groups, ASHA workers, and Anganwadi workers.
One crucial aspect of this initiative was the use of a web portal and mobile app for registration and geo-tagging of planted trees. Each participant was promised a Direct Benefit Transfer of Rs 100 upon successful completion of the process. However, many women in Rupali’s community faced significant challenges, such as limited network connectivity and unfamiliarity with web portals.
This is where Rupali’s unwavering dedication and expertise came into play. Located in Khorikata Village of Sonapur block in Kamrup District, she took it upon herself to ensure the success of this initiative in her community. In a single day, she registered approximately 40 women on the web portal, guiding them through every step of the process.
Rupali patiently taught her fellow community members how to capture geo-tagged photos, register on the web portal, and download certificates. Her support not only enabled these women to participate in the tree-planting initiative but also ensured that they received the promised financial benefit.
