Himanshu and Nitika are two studious siblings who hail from the Tipli Village of Tehri District. They stay with their father Kushal Singh, who is dependent on MNREGA for sustaining his family. The scheme provides a legal guarantee for one hundred days of employment in every financial year to adult members of any rural household willing to do public work related unskilled manual work at the statutory minimum wage of Rs.60 per day. If employment under the scheme is not provided within fifteen days of receipt of the application daily unemployment allowance will be paid to the applicant. It was the Soochna Seva Narendra Nagar (Khari) that got him registered under MNREGA at The Labour Department few months back.
Since Kushal Singh was now a registered construction labourer he was entitled to avail the benefits. A provision of financial assistance for education of the children of the beneficiary is one among many additional schemes for the registered construction labourers. Presently the benefit extended is for Rs.200 for class 6th to 8th and Rs.250 for class 9th to 10th.
Soochna sevaks helped Kushal Singh with the documentation work for the children and sent it to the concerned department. After a few days, the scholarship claim for both of them got an approval which will contribute in continuing their studies. This in turn will reduce the amount of responsibilities on their father too. Kudos to the Soochna Seva Team as their help made sure that children don’t stop learning and granted the family prosperity and happiness.
